Female Indigo Bunting

Photographed on October 01, 2011 in Mead Garden, Winter Park, Florida.
This was the day we have been waiting for in Mead Garden. Lots and lots of migrants. Here are some of the birds that were seen by the Orange Audubon Birding Group. We hadn’t gotten out of the parking lot when the trees were filled with Male and Female Summer Tanagers, Scarlet Tanagers, 2 Baltimore Orioles. Then we had Veery’s and Swainson Thrushes in the Amphitheater. A Male Black-throated Blue Warbler, Magnolia Warble, and 2 Eastern Wood-Pewees along the creek. A Northern Waterthrush, a Female Grosbeak, and two Hooded Warblers were seen in the wetlands. The Boardwalk provided male and female Indigo Buntings, A Red-tailed Hawk, Red-shouldered Hawk, and a Short-tailed Hawk. The Butterfly Garden had a Palm Warbler, A beautiful Male Scarlet Tanager and Ovenbird were seen in the Azaleas near the pond. These were just some of the birds seen today. Hopefully tomorrow will be just as good.
