Male Pileated Woodpecker

Male Pileated Woodpecker

I photographed this Male Pileated Woodpecker in Mead Garden, Winter Park, Florida, on Sunday, February 11, 2018. The main ID difference between Male and Female is a red stripe on their Malar (Cheek).

Blending “into” the environment means a lot to me. Observing, listening, even a birds faintest sound adds so much to my experience. Looking at what they see and how the bird reacts. I love when a bird is comfortable enough with me to land close by. I am privileged to be in their environment. Quietly observing.
